CBT anyone?
I wonder what exactly is going on here. I have never previously come across the idea of doing a 'sort of' (or 'feasibility') study before, putatively, intending to do a proper study, other than the case of SMILE where it seems the sort of study turned out to be sort of the real study.
And I wonder what Dr Crawley, a paediatric rheumatologist, is doing as an author on a study of appendicitis? Is it that she is considered now to be an expert on sort of studies of this sort?
Does anyone know how many psychologists are in the list of names of people involved?
I think its a way to avoid proper scrutiny from the ethics committee. I had assumed that phase 1 trials were effectively testing feasibility.
I did hear that Bristol Universities medical dept failed to get a 5 star rating and that Bristol has a habit of shutting non-five star rated departments. So I wonder if Crawley is well thought of because she is bringing in money and hence included (I assume she knows the right people on the MRC committees).
might need a feasibility study to determine!Sort of![]()
Did the lightbulbs have any issues during manufacture/ problematic delivery? Are there colour issues? Are they the right size..did they spend too long in storage without the chance of participating in serial or parallel switching? Too many questions before they come out of the box ....I thought you were going to ask how many psychologists it takes to change a light bulb.
The answer might be a bit subjective and more qualitative than quantitative.
Maybe Crawley has finally decided to useful work, after hitting her lowest point helping Phil Parker promote the lightning process?
You can easily find out. Create a survey to hand to the psychologists that asks them what they think about it.Did the lightbulbs have any issues during manufacture/ problematic delivery? Change of direction for Esther Crawley?

What does this mean, antibiotics plus wishy washy buzz words?Participants will be randomised into one of two arms. Participants in the intervention arm are treated with antibiotics and regular clinical assessment to ensure clinical improvement. Participants in the control arm will receive appendicectomy.
Are we not trying to reduce antibiotic use? What does this mean, antibiotics plus wishy washy buzz words?
I think placebos are more effective then buzzed words, though neither is a legitimate treatment for medical conditions. How ethical is this treatment anyways?
I am curious why they think it would work, i assume they have been tested before? Are we not trying to reduce antibiotic use?

The psychologist would argue that they would just give the lightbulb the tools to change itself.I thought you were going to ask how many psychologists it takes to change a light bulb.
I think they'll just leave it there and blame the lightbulb for not trying hard enough. The psychologist would argue that they would just give the lightbulb the tools to change itself.
Or the version I know of how many psychologists to change a light bulb ... Only one, but the lightbulb really has to want to change. Found it really funny when I first heard it years ago, but now it seems to have more sinister connotations. The psychologist would argue that they would just give the lightbulb the tools to change itself.
