    Oh, YES!
We have a CD of Great Original Performances by Duke Ellington 1927-34 on the go. It has just the right swing.
"What can a poor fellow do?"
    "Fast and Furious"
    "Hot and Bothered"
    "Stompy Jones"
    ....

    Hotting up nicely.

Sharpe has primarily moved his claims about the PACE trial to "however you define recovery CBT and GET are the proven best treatments".

Alsorts of linguistic claims can be made from this notion, like saying if one out of a hundred people recover from treatment x and two out of a hundred recover from treatment z, then 100 percent more people recover from using treatment x.

Which is technically a mathematically sound statement and may fool many as a sound bite but is nonsense in terms of treatment efficacy.

Of course there are many other problems with PACE but this is the angle we need to be challenging him on.

He needs to be asked straight out if PACE proved that GET and CBT should be recommended by NICE and stop avoiding real questions and just saying "it was just a trial not a model, read the paper, it hasn't changed policy.... etc etc".

Respect for Godwin for being able to keep his friendship with Wessely and critique of PACE separate.

Hm...So does this mean we have to win over murderers and other people who make others suffer instead of saying clearly what their deeds are and condemn them so that they might stop doing them?

Still, I think there are things in this world that can't simply be forgotten or forgiven (and don't have to), especially if the offender doesn't show any signs of being sorry.

If I am viewing myself as a hero and see others are suffering due to my actions, the most healthy and natural thing is stop being a hero instantly, to question myself and to re-evaluate my doings. Meaning good does not mean doing good. But of course, there's always the possibility others are the problem, not oneself.

Lots of good things there to read, though. Thank you.

This Godwin chap seems to be seriously cool under all that trying to be humble bit.
I think he has probably understood that some people you don't win over.
I must remember to put that last tweet in my notebook.

Beaking out the popcorn seems a tad unsophisticated given the music, but as it's internet tradition for, erm, debates, maybe this will do?

No, Michael Sharpe, we did not pay David Tuller to trash you, we paid David to investigate and bring to the attention of the public and the relevant authorities the way you and your cronies have trashed the lives of pwme for 30 years by doing bad science.
