Michael Sharpe skewered by @JohntheJack on Twitter

The response to Tim Erik Johnson’s tweet “Spoken like a true politician” is interesting. To respond “Thank you” is an admission and acceptance of his position as disingenuous and manipulative. The normal response to this suggestion would be a defensive comment or a reiteration of his scientific credentials.

Sharpe clarifies what he means by objective,

Well then this trial is a report on how well you can convince someone to say what you want them to say and has nothing to do with ME/CFS at all. Then its used to lock patients up and give them treatment that makes their condition worse or blamed for failure to recover or as the basis to deny benefits. And this research was done by people who had ties to the insurance industry with a vested interest in denying benefits.
That would be my answer to him if i had twitter (anyone who wants to post it to him please do).

Julie Rehmeher attempts to pin Sharpe down:

They state their reasons very clearly, so he knows exactly why they are saying it, he just doesn't want to acknowledge it or reply.

So he's saying it was a lie when they claimed they were not collecting that data due to patient compliance issues?

And pedometers have been around since the sixties ffs.
Ahh but those wretched patients could pretend not to be active ...of course they tell the truth on questionnaires ??? Especially when they’ve been told what to say and no doubt the questionnaire design is imbalanced and leading

Ok if @Robert 1973 gets blocked by MS before the end of April I'll donate 50 to David Tuller in addition to what I'm already going to donate. You the same @Alvin?

Mind you this does put @Robert 1973 in the ethical dilemma of whether to get himself blocked or not. Hmm, unintended consequences ...
Hmm, now that gives MS a dilemma if he’s reading our thread doesn’t it?

It may be the case that he thinks he's just too valuable to the people he has been working for, namely the government and insurance companies and they just wont allow their model to fail.

He's always been bigger and had more control than the average person trying to get truths out, always had the ear of government, the media and insurance companies. People don't just give that up easily and even if the writing was on the wall he still may not see it.

This is really total nonsense, even from the standpoint that ME is psychiatric.

On the moral side, it implies that being sick is a matter of "choice".
Then, even if ME was a "choice", the therapy would be considered successful only if patients gave up their bad choices to more healthy ones. If they're still taking "bad decisions", they're still ill. Period.

He is grasping for straws, its as simple as that.
