Mike's EU Marathons

Hi all

I'll be running the last ever Liechtenstein Marathon on June 11th.

Whilst its not in the EU, it will be in honour of people with ME there. Statistically there's at least 200 people in this little country with the illness.

If anyone knows of anyone there who might like to tell me their story over email, please let me know.

Cheers

Mike

Afternoon peeps.

So have settled on Florence (Italy) as my next marathon for Invest In ME on 27th November (marathon number 31 for them)

Somewhere I've always wanted to go and should be nice and cold/wet.

I've made contact with someone there with ME and will be working with them to raise awareness and money hopefully.

Training started on Sunday. I'm about 20lbs overweight so much work to be done!

Have increased my target slightly on my justgiving page, be great to get there

hi all, and happy new year.

Am still going! Closing in on £47K, hoping to get to £50K soon.

Off to Bergen/Norway to run on April 29th and hoping to meet or interview some ME peeps over there (and maybe meet some scientists/researchers at Haukeland)

I put an appeal out to see if anyone wanted to tell me their story on Twitter and had a few replies but I wondered if anyone here knew of anyone? #norway

Cheers

Mike

Hi all

Quick mini-update from me.

I'm being interviewed for a couple of podcasts ahead of my trip to Norway to run Bergen Marathon (Apr 29).

Norwegian ME Association - recording Tues 7th march - will let you know when out
Running Tales - will be out on March 21st - big running community following, will be on Spotify

Should be getting a lunch at Haukeland University when I make it over to Bergen, maybe meet Profs Fluge or Mella if they're about, exciting!

Training going OK, am creaking a bit but getting the miles done.

Cheers

Conquering Europe: The marathon man raising awareness of ME
Mike Harley ran a marathon in all 27 countries in the European Union
It is a journey that took in 27 different countries and as many marathons, saw almost £50,000 raised for charity and increased awareness of those suffering from chronic fatigue syndrome, ME.

Mike Harley, pictured with his race numbers from all 27 marathons across the EU
But back in 2015 when Mike Harley decided to run a marathon in every member state of the European Union, he “couldn’t really run to the end of my road”.

Spurred on by thoughts of a childhood friend with the condition and conversations with people with ME across Europe, Mike completed races in countries as varied as Cyprus, Estonia and France.

Despite calling himself “not particularly athletic,” Mike finished the challenge in Rome last year - and promptly booked his next set of marathons.
