United Kingdom: Newcastle-upon-tyne Hospital Trust

I think the posts earlier in this thread about the comments that this service made about the draft NICE ME/CFS guidelines in 2021 remain relevant. From looking at the video above, I don't think the views or attitudes of the Newcastle services have changed. Indeed, the approach seems to ignore (ME)/CFS as much as possible and just talk about and treat 'fatigue' in an extraordinarily patronising way.

I wish there was a way to protect children with ME/CFS from the ministrations of this service. Instead, it now seems that the service's 'expertise' is being shared with other BACME clinicians.

Gawd. Yes! Though I think the set up, awkward off-camera eyeline and jump edits were more in the style of Mr Cholmondley-Warner and Grayson.
Ugh, yes, kids would be embarrassed to make something so bad as a school project. It's badly made, patronising and belittling of serious illness. I think it demonstrates what little value there is in the psychology/physio provision for kids with ME/CFS.

This doctor no longer works here but used to.
Caroline Grayson Consultant Paediatrician Newcastle

A Leader in Safeguarding Children

From the beginning, Dr Grayson has shown a strong commitment to child protection. Initially appointed as the Named Doctor for Child Protection, she held this role for over 12 years. In 2018, she stepped into her current post as Designated Doctor for Safeguarding Children across Newcastle and Gateshead. She provides vital strategic advice and supervision to safeguarding teams across the region.

Delivering Specialist and Community Paediatric Care

In addition to her forensic responsibilities, Dr Grayson runs clinics for children with genital conditions. She also provides broader community paediatric care through the Child Development Centre and Children’s Outpatients. Her areas of expertise include supporting children with developmental difficulties, chronic fatigue syndrome/ME, and other complex paediatric conditions.

Caroline was asked to take a lead for CFS/ME in children and young people locally back in 2008 and was board member of the Northern CFS/ME network when this was operational. Currently she chairs a steering group for professionals managing young people with CFS/ME across the region and continues to strive to establish a dedicated service for CFS/ME with a view to delivering evidenced based therapies and close partnership working with educational leads.

GNCH will be one of the pilot sites for a research trial led by Dr Esther Crawley , Consultant Paediatrician in Bath and Bristol looking at Graded Exercise Therapy in young people with CFS/ME compared to activity management and recruitment is expected to commence shortly. Caroline is delighted that Jackie Young physiotherapist is leading on this trial and is looking forward to working closely with her over the years ahead.

Caroline is grateful for the support and advice she has received from Dr Esther Crawley and from her colleagues across the region in learning more about the management of CFS/ME in young people.

Still flogging away at that dead horse.

I thought Prof Crawley is retired.

[added - she is no longer listed either under the Bath clinic’s staff nor on the University of Bristol website. I have forgotten how to check when a webpage was last updated, but presumably the APCP page has not been updated.]

Isn't this old stuff?
yes and no. I hadn't heard of Caroline Grayson before. I don't think she is a consultant at Newcastle anymore as the page no longer exists.

The reason I posted is because she worked with Esther Crawley (who retired following the terrible MAGENTA results).
I found it extraordinary that
Caroline Grayson " Named Doctor for child protection for the Trust." was more than OK with the ethics of Crawleys 'research' on children.

The Rolling Stones are still touring, I think. When you've got a good act, don't mess with success.
The page in question is from 2015.

The date isn’t visible from the page itself, but if you search for «grayson» on the page it shows the date.

Do they state what the limiting factors of their approach are beyond "negative attitudes" or would admission of limiting factors "encourage negativity"? Is there any real room for debate here?

again huh? what page? There is no 'page in question'. Seriously what is going on? I just posted some information about a former Consultant at Newcastle that used to work with Crawley. That's it.
Multiple people appears to have interpreted the info about working on a trial with Crawley as new info, i.e. that Crawley is starting a new trial now.

So I tried to correct that impression. I’m sorry if I added to the confusion.
