As I've commented above, I find this paper unconvincing. A key issue is the apparentsubstantial difference in levels with age in healthy controls and the poor age matching in this study. That's not to say that there isn't a real difference, it's just that this paper is not good evidence of it.

We should make a thread for that 1992 paper and have a good look at it. I think when even the researchers allow substantial doubt to be expressed about the result (in the title "Preliminary Findings"), that is a good sign that the results are not robust.
